Using Essential Oils in conjunction with a massage will create aromatic bonding. This is where your baby will begin to associate the aroma with times spent relaxed with their parent or grandparent. The more regular the massage, the stronger the aroma bonding.
When the child smells the same aroma out of context of the massage, they will be reminded of the massage and the emotions that went with it – comfort, reassurance, and relaxation. This can be very helpful when small children are separated from their parents.
When using Essential Oils topically with babies, use one drop in a 10ml roller bottle and fill the rest of the way with a carrier oil. If you want to make a salve or lotion, use one drop to 2 tsp of carrier oil.
CARRIER OILS for CHILDREN:
• Sweet Almond Oil – emollient and nourishing effects on skin, which makes it the number one carrier oil suggested for babies and children.
• Avocado Oil – can be used in combination with 2/3 Almond Oil for dry and flaky skin.
• Coconut Oil – excellent emollient that is perfect for making lotions, creams and body rubs.
• Fractionated Coconut Oil – coconut oil from which the lauric acid has been removed, allowing it to stay in liquid form, making it perfect for roller bottle blends.
